Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore Tournament Produces Impressive Numbers and Big Fish

The Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore Tournament, a precursor to the renowned Bisbee’s Black & Blue tournament, recently concluded in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. This year, the tournament took place from October 16-18, and attracted an impressive 136 teams competing for a total jackpot of roughly $2.7 million. Over the three days of fishing, participants caught an impressive 458 striped marlin, 124 blue marlin, and 17 black marlin.

Among the standout catches, team Broad Vision made headlines with a massive 330-pound yellowfin tuna landed by angler John Duffy, showcasing Cabo’s rich and diverse fishery. Other notable black marlin catches included Burro’s 387-pound fish, Five More Minutes at 397 pounds, Bandito at 401 pounds, and the tournament champion, Los Compadres, who brought in an impressive 467-pound black marlin on the first day of the tournament.

At the awards ceremony, Los Compadres was crowned tournament champion and took home an impressive total payout of $600,573. Bandito secured second place, earning a payout of $18,994, while Five More Minutes finished in third place, with winnings amounting to $583,452 due to the jackpot structure.

In addition to the overall prizes, True Grit won the heaviest dorado category with a 30.1-pound fish, earning them a total of $164,565. In addition to the international coverage they received from their 330-pound yellowfin, Broad Vision also took home $73,615 for the overall tuna jackpot. Additional tuna jackpots were awarded to Estrella de Norte and Mark & The Boys, each receiving $45,475 for their catches.

In the billfish release category, Retriever released 10 striped marlin, five blue marlin and three sailfish on Day 1, taking the daily and earning $81,600. On Day 2, Overtime accumulated an impressive 1,475 points by releasing 33 striped marlin and seven blue marlin to take home $81,600 for the daily. On the final day of fishing, the $81,600 daily went to Rising Sons/Magnifico for releasing 17 striped marlin, five blue marlin, and two sailfish for 1,050 points.

As teams prepare for the Bisbee’s Black & Blue following this tournament, the atmosphere in Cabo San Lucas is electric, setting the stage for another exhilarating week of tournament fishing in one of the world’s premier big-game fishing destinations.
