It’s no secret that omni sonar has been the hottest technological advancement to hit the big-game fishing market in years. Since launching their omni systems, Furuno, MAQ and Simrad have owned the blossoming omni market in sport fishing and have left excited customers wondering what’s coming next for this game-changing technology.

Their questions were answered at the 2024 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, with Furuno introducing an upgraded omni system, the CSH10 360-Degree Omni Scanning Sonar. Taking feedback from captains and working with engineers, the CSH10 promises to deliver even deadlier results when it comes to locating and tracking fish. I sat down with the team at Furuno during the show to better understand what this new product will offer.

Beam Stabilization

Sonar “noise” generated while fishing in rough conditions is one of omni’s most limiting factors. Taking this into consideration, the CSH10’s beam stabilization feature delivers clear, high-quality images, no matter the conditions.

Sonar Chart Overlay

One of the coolest features of the CSH10 is the Sonar Chart Overlay, which Furuno reports as the first of its kind. Thanks to the BathyVision TZ MAPS, the new CSH10 allows you to track fish along bathymetric features to better understand where they are heading.

NavNet TZtouchXL Compatibility

The integration with Furuno’s NavNet TZtouchXL is all about convenience, allowing operators to control key sonar settings—such as range, gain and tilt—right from their MFD. And with the upcoming software update in 2025, it’s only going to get better, giving operators even more control while staying focused on the fishing action.

Target Lock and Fish Quantity Mark

Addressing the issue of tracking a fast fish or multiples, the new Target Lock makes locking and tracking effortless. The Fish Quantity Mark function takes it a step further, helping operators gauge the size, depth and distance of the target so they know exactly how to approach for the best results.

Improved Image Clarity and Range

The CSH10 features an advanced palette of 32 different colors, making it easy to tell fish, schools and structures apart. Plus, with a range of up to 900 meters, operators can cover a huge area, locate distant targets and still see all the details clearly.
