Replacing worn silicon caulk from around showers, heads and other places that need a watertight seal can be a royal pain. Once this stuff starts to dry out and mildew, it needs to be replaced immediately before moisture eats its way into the boat's interior. To remove the caulk, use an industrial strength remover like Goo Gone. Once you clean all of the old caulk out, apply a small bead of sealant with a caulk gun, and smooth it out with an ice cube … yes, an ice cube! The sealant or silicone won't stick to the cube and it will leave a smooth finish. You can even apply several coats.
