Furuno FA30 Automatic Identification System
Back in 2003, before most recreational boaters had heard of the Automatic Identification System, Furuno introduced one of the first Coast Guard and FCC approved AIS units to the commercial market. Until recently, the price tag of a Class-A-type-approved unit kept most recreational boaters from utilizing this tool. To help bridge the price gap, Furuno introduced the new FA30 AIS Receiver. When connected to the NavNet VX2 or the new NavNet 3D, the FA30 AIS Receiver enhances your situational awareness and safety by receiving critical navigation information from vessels equipped with AIS transponders. The FA30 receives information including the other vessel's position, course, speed over ground, heading, rate of turn and a variety of other data. This is especially helpful when the other vessel is not visible on your radar due to geographic or atmospheric conditions. The FA30 doesn't take up a bunch of space either, measuring only 10" x 8.6" with a 3.5-inch depth. For more information, visit www.furuno.com, or call 360-834-9300.
