Standard Horizon HX850S Floating Handheld VHF
The new HX850S handheld VHF from Standard Horizon features a built-in, 12-channel WAAS GPS receiver that allows DSC transmissions with your coordinates. With 6 watts of transmitting power, a die-cast chassis and rubberized, nonslip coating, the HX850S is built tough and comes ready for a stint in the tender or ditch bag. It also makes a good radio to clip to your crewman's belt when traveling.
A large LCD screen displays three different options: radio mode, radio display and position information. That's right; this radio actually comes with a navigation function that displays course-over-ground and speed-over-ground information.
DSC functions include distress call with position, individual calls, position request, position report and group call. This VHF supports all NOAA weather channels as well as all USA, International and Canadian Maritime Channels. With its selectable power output and SOS strobe light, the HX850S represents a serious communication and survival tool. For more information, visit
