Airmar SS 270W Wide Beam Transducer
Find the bait and you will find the fish. Airmar, one of the top transducer manufacturers in the sounder industry, recently introduced its new SS 270W wide beam transducer to allow fishermen to see a greater body of water and more bottom. Engineered to provide four times the beamwidth at 200 kHz than other Airmar transducers, the SS 270W offers 16.5 times more coverage area at any given depth. For example: At a depth of 100 feet, a standard 6-degree beamwidth transducer provides a bottom coverage area of 86 square feet. At the same depth, the SS 270W and its 25-degree beamwidth covers 1,419 square feet! When using a 6- or 8-degree transducer at 120 feet, you aren't even marking a piece of bottom as wide as the beam of your boat. Imagine how much more you can see with a wide beam at mid-depths, where bait congregates during the day attracting billfish. And since the beamwidths are the same 25 degrees, you can display the 200 and 50 kHz frequencies on a split screen to clearly show the entire water column and bottom at the same time. Fish appear as arches of the same size and position on each screen, making it easier to identify what species you are marking. For more information, visit www.airmar.com, or call 603-673-9570.
